Subject: Forester Agenda for wednesday
Topics for discussion:
1. Fuels treatment update: Work ongoing @ Woodside Ranch, Deschutes
River Woods, Skyliners, Riverbend, Ponderosa Pines, Newberry Estates,
Starwood Estates, 13 acre county property in La Pine with more planned
this fall. When these are treated we will have completed approximately
985 acres of fuels treatment for approximately $750,000, this wiRI leave
us approximately $500,000 on existing grants.
2. With our outstanding grant requests we will have approximately $900,000
to spend next year and the following year to treat fuels.
3. Our strategy will change in the future focusing on county owned
properties and for other private will be providing "chipper services" and
pine needle clean up rather than trying to personalize treatments on
private lots.
4. Project Wildfire recognition session with Congressman Walden, thank you
for participating.
5. Fire Season meeting on June 25th with over 300 attendees.
6. Fire Season 2008; with the current unprecedented fire season in CA will
continue to be a resource drain for several months. Fortunately with our
existing fuels conditions we are probably at least a month away from the
"critical burning" period for central Oregon.
Thanks...
