TITLE OF AGENDA ITEM:
Consideration of Board Signature of Notice of Intent to Award Letter to ESI, Engineered Structures
Inc., for Construction of Oregon State Police/911 Building.
PUBLIC HEARING ON THIS DATE? No
BACKGROUND AND POLICY IMPLICATIONS:
Deschutes County opened bids for construction of the new Oregon State Police/911 Building on
Tuesday, June 9, 2009. The project consists of an office building of approximately 32,000 square feet,
an outbuilding of approximately 7,000 square feet, parking lot and other site improvements, and off-site
utility and street improvements.
The solicitation was conducted using the design-bid-build method (low bid). Twelve bids were
received (see attached bid results sheet). ESI, a firm out of Boise, Idaho, is the low bidder with a bid of
$6,093,927.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS:
Deschutes County will enter into a contract for $6,093,927 once the protest period has expired. There
is sufficient cash and appropriation in a dedicated project fund.
RECOMMENDATION & ACTION REQUESTED:
Board signature of Notice of Intent to Award Letter to ESI.
