1) St. Vincent De Paul(SDVP) is a 501 c 3, non-profit organization located in
Redmond, Oregon. SDVP is overseen by a non -paid Board of Directors, which
currently numbers eight. There are only two, part-time, paid employees who
oversee the Social Services programs and the Food Bank. All other functions are
provided by volunteers. SDVP provides community outreach programs for needy
families in the Redmond area. Those programs include: food boxes, rental
assistance, utility assistance (and propane), preventative education and referrals to
partner agencies that work with SDVP in the community.
2) Our grant project request is for the purpose of assisting SDVP in continuing and
increasing the numbers of families that can be served in the Redmond area.
Currently, our monthly budget for rentand utility assistance is $1100 per month.
These funds are expended to clients within the first few days of each month. The
current economy will increase the numbers of affected area families and their
needs for assistance, to meet rents and to stay warm this winter.
3) The timeline for this proposal is from October 1, 2009 through February 28, 2010.
These months are typically the period of greatest need for clients.
4) The impact on the community will be significant. There were 948 adults and 581
children served through SDVP Redmond during the months of June and July
2009. Support from grantors such as Deschutes County Economic Development
enables SDVP to increase those numbers served through the winter months.
5) Families in the Redmond area will benefit from these programs.
6) 100% of funds will go to direct client assistance in the areas of rent and utilities.
Matching funds come from donations and other grant applications which support
ongoing operations. A re -opened thrift store is in process to provide additional
support for SDVP programs.
