HomeMy WebLinkAboutTetherow House & CrossingBuilt by Andrew J. Tetherow in 1878, the oldest house in Deschutes County and the first bridge crossing the Deschutes River stands at Tetherow Crossing. Prior to the bridge, Andrew Tetherow operated a toll ferry at this site. He had an orchard, brewery and a small stock of supplies for travelers. AŌer the original bridge was washed out, an updated bridge was built on tops of railroad flat cars which rest on concrete supports.
