MINUTES OF MEETING
Tuesday, May 2, 2017
A meeting of the Local Public Safety Coordinating Council was held at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday,
May 2, 2017 in the Allen Conference Room of the Deschutes Service Building.

Also present were Donna Mills, Central Oregon Health Council; Garland Days and Laura Handy
of Heart of Oregon. No representatives of the media were present.
1. CALL TO ORDER & INTRODUCTIONS: Ken Hales, Acting Chair called the meeting to order at
3:30 pm at which time introductions were made.
2. APPROVE PSCC MEETING MINUTES: Motion made and supported for approval of April 4,
2017 meeting minutes. Motion Carried.
3. PUBLIC COMMENT: None was offered.

4. JUVENILE CRIME PREVENTION GRANT: Deevy Holcomb presented the Deschutes County
Juvenile Crime Prevention Plan for the fiscal year 2017-2019. Referrals are primarily made
by school counselors. Motion made by Aaron Brenneman and supported by Chief Jim Porter
to approve the plan for the Juvenile Crime Prevention Grant. Motion carried.
5. HEART OF OREGON: Laura Hardy presented information regarding the program Training
Tomorrows Workforce Today. Heart of Oregon provides opportunities for workforce
training, alternative education and development to local you people ages 16-24. Their
mission is to inspire and empower positive change in the lives of young people through
jobs, education and stewardship. Referral process is online and one application is available
for all programs and can select any programs of interest.
6. LEGISLATIVE UPDATE: none reported
ADJOURNMENT: There being no further discussion, the meeting was adjourned at 4:06 p.m.
